Who I Work With

I believe that the core of human development lays in forming and maintaining emotionally intimate relationships. I approach psychotherapy from an integrative perspective, combining relational psychodynamic, CBT, systemic, and experiential theories. I emphasize respect, warmth, mutuality, and collaboration. I will work hard to create a safe and supportive environment for you, focusing on exploring and understanding your unique history and worldview. I will help you identify your strengths and talents, gain insight about patterns of relating that may be unproductive, and encourage you to experiment with new ways of behaving. We will journey together, focusing on increasing your self-awareness and making healthier choices.

I particularly enjoy working with individuals seeking help coping with life transitions. This may involve starting or ending a relationship; having a baby; parenting an infant, child, or teen; change in job or career; getting married or divorced; relocating; and achieving a new life milestone.

While my psychological approach is effective for a broad range of problem areas, I do not work with people with severe and persistent mental illness or those needing between-session intervention. Clients with active and recent suicidality, psychiatric hospitalization, self-injury, chemical dependence, or disordered eating will likely be referred to more appropriate services and care.

Therapy Process

Step 1: Initial Phone Consultation

Schedule a 15 minute phone consultation to discuss your interests in seeking psychotherapy. The purpose of the call is to assess whether or not we might work well together. If we mutually agree there is a strong fit, I will offer you an ongoing appointment time. I typically meet with clients on a weekly or every other week basis.

Step 2: Intake / First Session

You will be added to my client portal and asked to complete the intake and consent forms in the portal. Before your first appointment you’ll receive an email and text message with a link to our HIPAA-compliant video session. I will ask you more about your background and explore in greater depth the concerns that brought you in to treatment.

Step 3: Ongoing Individual Psychotherapy Sessions

For every appointment, you will receive an email and text message with a unique link to our HIPAA-compliant video session. We will work collaboratively on the concerns and goals you identified as being particularly important to you.
